We will be arriving on Aug. 16 in the afternoon, staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Would it be best to try to dine at CInderella's castle and stay for fireworks, or do something at the Animal Kingdom Park? Any suggestions?

    Dixie:

Because Animal Kingdom closes at 6 p.m. the Sunday of your arrival, I think you should go with your plan to visit Magic Kingdom, it's actually what I recommend to many folks!  There's nothing like going to Magic Kingdom on the first night of your arrival!  That way, you can enjoy your second day at the Magic Kingdom more leisurely!

Although dinner reservations for Cinderalla Castle are hard to come by, you can always call this far out and try to see if there are cancellations.  If you're not on the dining plan, another option is to get a reservation at The Plaza and make sure you order one of their fabulous desserts or if you have children, check out the Crystal Palace and its Pooh and Friends Character dining.

Even if all you do is grab a hotdog at Casey's, there's something magical about experiencing the Magic Kingdom in the evening along a lit up Main Street!  Cap off the evening with Wishes fireworks and take in Evening Magic Hours til 1 a.m. if you're night owls!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
