Hi Brenda, welcome to planDisney! I’m excited that you’ll be staying at the
Disneyland Hotel in April – you’re in for a magical time! It’s one of my favorite places to stay, and I'll share why, but first, let's talk waterslides!
Brenda, I talked with a friendly cast member who let me know that the
Monorail waterslides do not have an upcoming refurbishment scheduled, so they should be open in April, assuming no unscheduled need for maintenance arises. Also, I should note that slide operating times may vary depending on weather conditions and are subject to change. That said, I think your chances of enjoying time in the water are good!
The pool area is one of the highlights of the Disneyland Hotel, especially for families. When we stayed there last time, my kids (ages 3 and 6) spent hours going down the waterslides, swimming, and playing in the splash pad. While my older daughter liked the smaller Monorail waterslide, my youngest went on the mini waterslide dozens of times. I braved the tallest of the waterslides, and, golly, it was a blast!
Here’s what makes the pool area so magical:
- There is a fun tropical vibe
- There are life jackets for kiddos that are easily accessible (and free to use)
- There are multiple pools and whirlpools
- Private poolside cabanas are available for an additional fee
- There is a poolside bar that serves lunch, dinner, and drinks
- You can enjoy the pool area even after you check out on the day of your departure. Just keep your room key, pack a post-swim outfit, and use the changing rooms by the pool.
Now, let’s talk about some of my other favorite hotel highlights. You'll find hints of nostalgia throughout the property, and the rooms have magical touches like the twinkling headboard. There were lawn games outside when we last stayed, including a large chess set and a bean bag toss.
Tangaroa Terrace is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat. I absolutely love the Island Garden Avocado Toast on the breakfast menu. Speaking of food,
Goofy's Kitchen is a lot of fun, and it's right there in the hotel if you're looking for an extra memorable dining experience.
Also, Brenda, as a Disneyland Resort Hotel guest, you'll enjoy wonderful perks like
Early Entry. Remember, the park that offers early admission for hotel guests changes depending on the day of the week, so make sure your park reservation matches the park that is opening early.
If you are headed to Disneyland, you can consider taking the
Disneyland Monorail from the station in Downtown Disney directly into Tomorrowland! It is scheduled to reopen in early March following a refurbishment. This is also my favorite way to get back to the hotel from Disneyland after a day in the park!
Brenda, I hope you have a magical time at the Disneyland Hotel. After reminiscing about my family's previous stay, I'm excited to make plans for our next one! If you have any other questions before your trip, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney.
Sending pixie dust your way,
Kriss
