Welcome back to planDisney, Jennifer! We're delighted that you've sent us another excellent question!
It was so exciting to get an official release date for
MagicBand+ (finally)! There will be more than 25 styles upon its debut on July 27, and the rumor is that Tink has loaded this new wearable technology with lots of pixie dust! MagicBand+ works like a normal MagicBand, meaning you can scan it to enter the parks or Lightning Lanes. These, however, will light up in rainbow colors when activated. We also learned that they will have special features for the 50th Anniversary, such as interacting with the nighttime spectaculars and the
Beacons of Magic! Another interesting change is that MagicBand+ must be charged for use. It comes with a charger and USB cord, which attaches to the underside of the Mickey head.
Disney Resort hotel guests receive a special discount on MagicBands, available through their
My Disney Experience account. Typically, a MagicBand order can be sent to a Guest's home if they complete the order 11 or more days before the check-in date. However, I'm sure the bands will be extremely popular, and it does concern me that there could potentially be shipping delays. I advise having the MagcBands sent to
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and you can pick them up at check-in. When you get to the checkout page, enter the Resort's address for shipping purposes, and this will ensure that the MagicBands are shipped directly to the front desk. If you'd rather wait until your arrival, the new MagicBands will be sold at all four Walt Disney World theme parks, in your resort hotel, or at Disney Springs.
I hope your trip is filled with magic, Jennifer! If there's anything else you need, you know where to find us!
