We arrive Tuesday and I’m worried I won’t have enough money on my debit card to cover the $100 dollar hotel charge will we be turned away or can I give them my gift card I have I read you just won’t be able to charge your magic band to the room.

Hiya, Linda, and thanks for stopping by planDisney today! Your magical Walt Disney World Resort visit will be here in no time, so I’d love to ease your mind about your resort stay. Even Uncle Scrooge McDuck has to pinch some pennies once in a while!

You are correct that your credit or debit card will typically be charged an authorization hold for incidental expenses charged to your room. The hold charge is usually $100, and you can read more about the process at this Frequently Asked Question.

I chatted with a frugal Cast Member who said guests can opt out of having charges added to their room folio. When you arrive, you’ll stop by the Front Desk at your resort to take care of that.

While you’re at the Front Desk, feel free to let them know your situation and other possible payment methods. They might be able to help you apply a Disney Gift Card to your folio and advise you of any other options. Disney Cast Members are the true Fairy Godparents!

Did you know the My Disney Experience mobile app has a fabulous new feature that allows you to add Disney Gift Cards to your payment method? I can’t wait to use this when I place Mobile Orders at quick-service locations in the theme parks. My favorite is the Lobster Roll at Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom Park. It’s delicious, and if I’m paying with a gift card, it’s practically free! Don’t you love Disney math?

Linda, I’m sending pixie dust your way for a practically perfect visit. planDisney is always here for you; you can bank on it!

    Magic awaits,
