hi. we arrive on sept. 24 at 2:10 PM. what should we plan for our first evening and where to eat?

Hi, Dawn!   I am sure you are counting down the days til September 24th!   We're headed down on September 27 and we are so excited!

I don't like to over plan my arrival day.    I like to enjoy checking in, getting my room settled, and having a relaxing evening so we can go full speed starting the next morning!  Some suggestions for your first night:   Get dinner reservations at the Spirit of Aloha show at Polynesian or dine with Mickey and his pals at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary.    After dinner, head to the beach at the Polynesian to enjoy watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Another idea would be to go to Downtown Disney.   Here you can enjoy tons of shopping, dining, relaxing with a big ice cream dessert from Ghiradelli or take a helium balloon ride 400 feet above Village Lake on Characters in Flight.   One of my favorite restaurants here is Wolfgang Puck Express.   It is a counter service restaurant so you don't even need a reservation.

If  you are staying near Epcot, head to the Boardwalk and just take a leisurely walk around the Boardwalk.   For a nice dinner, get reservations at the Yachtsman Steakhouse inside the Yacht Club or grab a huge ice cream cone at Beaches and Cream and take in the wonderful atmosphere.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your evening, get a good night's sleep and get to the parks bright and early the next morning.   Have a great vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
