we arrive friday for our first trip with our 7year old twins. What is the best advice as far as what to bring into each park?

    Hi, Darlene!

Your twins must be so excited.  A trip to Walt Disney World when you are 7 is pure magic!

When you are the mom, a trip with kids means a bag full of goodies!   Here is a list of what I used to bring with me when my kids were that age:

    -Large tote bag or backpack
-Extra set of clothes and socks
    -Autograph books, pens, camera
    -Wet Wipes
    -Box of snack crackers
    -Juice boxes or water bottles
    -Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses
    -Rain ponchos
-Glow sticks for kids to play with while waiting for fireworks or nighttime parades (stop by your local Dollar Store and stock up!)
-Small notebooks and markers to draw in while waiting for meals
-Light jackets or sweatshirts depending on the weather

Whew, that is quite a list, but really all are necessities!  The up-side of all of this is that I promise in a few years the load does get lighter as the kids get older.    You will need to go through bag check at each park, so make sure no glass bottles, and have your bag all unzipped as you approach the security table to speed things along.

After your first day, you will adjust to your family's needs, but this should be a good starting point for packing.  Wishing you and your family a wonderful time in WDW!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is sailing with Disney Cruise Line, running (or cheering!) at runDisney events, taking hula lessons at Aulani, or vacationing at the Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. I am proud to be a part of the planDisney team and cannot wait to share my tips and advice for a magical vacation
