We will arrive first week of December. My husband does not want to do theme parks all week. Are there any beaches in the Disney resort area and is December weather still warm enough for a beach or even the pool?

    Hi Lesley!

I love to visit Walt Disney World in early December. It's definitely my favourite time of year for many reasons. It's just perfect! During each of my early December visits, we've always been able to use the resort pools and Disney Water Parks.

If you are thinking of visiting an ocean front beach, you've got a bit of a drive to reach one from Walt Disney World. It's a good 60-90 minute drive from Central Florida out to the coasts.

That being said, there are many beach resorts within the Walt Disney World property. If you haven't yet chosen your resort for your stay, I'd be happy to recommend a few that have both beaches and pools for your husband's enjoyment and yours too! If you're travelling on a 'moderate' budget, my top pick for a relaxing atmosphere complete with beaches, strolling paths, pools and more would be Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. You'll feel like you're immersed in the islands of the Caribbean at this expansive resort that's built around it's own lake complete with beaches, quiet pools, walking paths, its own marina and more.

If you're on a 'deluxe' budget, there are several choices. Disney's Polynesian Resort combines the feel of a Polynesian vacation with the magic of Disney, all wrapped up in one fabulous package. For beach front, a lazy river and a BoardWalk area to stroll and enjoy, look no further than Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Another hidden gem which combines beach and pool with rustic charm and solitude is Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort. This resort comes in between the moderate and deluxe pricing levels.

If you have additional questions about any of these resorts, please don't hesitate to write me back Lesley. I'd love to hear from you again and it would be my pleasure to assist you further.

Wishing you a simply Magical time as you plan your Walt Disney World vacation!
