We arrive the day of the WDW Marathon and we’re wondering if the parks are crowded the days following the marathon and also if we will have trouble getting to the Grand Floridian on Sunday during the marathon. Thank you!

Welcome to planDisney Joshua. We are excited you dropping in with your question.

Visiting the Walt Disney World Resort is something you should plan for and you are taking the next steps to try and make sure you are well informed before your trip starts. The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is one of the year's most anticipated runDisney events. Runners from all over visit to take place in one of the 6 different races on property that weekend. My last visit was during a race weekend and the crowds did not get out of hand. A lot of racers visit often and the race is what they plan around. Being at the parks is secondary for most of them. Usually, the crowds are around a couple of days after the race. If they do impact your visit it will more than likely only be a day at most two. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is where elegance meets sophistication and I think it is a very beautiful place to stay or even eat. If you are staying or eating you will have no problem getting into the resort once you see the security guard at the gatehouse. They will say hi, check on your reservations, and send you right on through.

If you are just staying might I recommend a meal at the very popular Grand Floridian Café? This is a casual meal with American fare and it cannot be topped. Breakfast is always my go-to for making reservations. The Grand Breakfast is a classic plate with two eggs your choice of meat and a Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole that steals the show in my opinion. Some talk about the Traditional Eggs Benedict as the best eggs all over the property.

I hope this information is helpful. Visit us if you have any other questions at planDisney.com and we will be happy to help.

    Have a magical stay,
