we are to arrive around 4:30 p.m., we are booked for 7 nights, can we visit the parks the day we arrive & the day we are do to leave since it will actually only be for a half day or less each, since our tickets are for 7 days? if you count mon.-mon.

    Hi Connie,

    Congratulations on your upcoming vacation!

Whether you enter a theme park for 10 minutes or 10 hours, it counts as an entire day.  If you plan on heading off to the parks on your departure day, then you will want to skip going to a park on the day you arrive.  Don't worry, there are still several ways for you to add a little Disney magic to your evening.

    • Head to Downtown Disney.  Even the window shopping is fun there, and there are several places to grab a quick bite to eat or enjoy a leisurely meal.
    • Stroll along the Boardwalk - there are street performers, surrey bike rentals and great food options. If you stay long enough, you can even catch the fireworks from Illuminations.  Fantasia Gardens miniature golf is within walking distance.
    • Ride the monorail and check out some resorts for future visits.  Make reservations at Chef Mickey's or 'Ohana.  Afterwards, stroll down to the beach area to enjoy the Electric Water Pageant and the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.
    • Stay around your resort -- grab a bite to eat, check out the gift shops and enjoy your resort pool.  Many of the resorts have activities in the afternoon for families to enjoy.  I know the Beach Club shows movies on the beach in the evenings.  Check your resort guide for suggestions.
Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
