I would like to arrange for a special day for my great niece who is batteling cancer. Is there anyway we could arrange somethhing special with the characters or somehow see if she could be in the parade? She has a long road ahead of her after this trip

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Greta ~

I completely understand your feelings of wanting to make your niece's vacation special. Cancer is such a horrible disease and its great to leave it all behind for awhile.

I so wish I had an insider secret for you but Guests are typically chosen at random to open parks or be in parades. There are times when they may have a celebrity VIP visiting the parks that they ask to be the Grand Marshall for the parades but usually its Guests that were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time that were showered in pixie dust.

If you want to increase your chances of being selected I would plan to arrive at the park entrances super early. Show your enthusiasm by wearing ears or matching shirts. Smile big and be talkative and friendly to the Cast Members. In other words, draw some attention (in a positive way) to yourselves.

I'd also suggest speaking with the Concierge at your resort when you arrive.  Explain your situation and ask for suggestions. While there are no guarantees, sometimes they are able to create some types of unforgettable moments.

I am not sure how old your niece is but if you'd like to visit me again, I'd be happy to make some suggestions for some special experiences you may be able to book in advance.  It would also help to know her favorite Disney characters. It is my pleasure to assist you.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
