How do I arrange disabled access to rides ? I have Systemic Lupus Erythramatosus and a chronic back injury and can't stand for long periods

    Greetings, Amber.

Hear ye, hear ye: By royal proclamation, I would like to officially welcome you to planDisney! With mere DAYS to go until the clock strikes midnight on your holiday to The Most Magical Place on Earth, I bet you're feeling a little like Cinderella waiting for the ball to arrive. Are you counting down the hours yet? I know I would be!

As someone with multiple family members suffering from Lupus, I completely empathize with your situation. I can only imagine the incredible amount of strength it takes to get up and face that each morning, Amber. You are a warrior! Disability Access Service (DAS) is a service available to Guests who struggle with the lengthy wait times in attraction queues due to a disability. You will be able to apply for DAS at the Guest Relations location in the first theme park you plan on visiting when you arrive. The friendly Cast Members there can walk you through the registration process, answer any questions you have, and help set up your initial DAS selection should you meet the qualifications. If you qualify for DAS and find yourself in need of some assistance throughout the day, the Cast Members at the Guest Experience Team locations throughout the theme parks (they’re marked with blue umbrellas) can assist you and help you make subsequent selections.

Just so you know, Walt Disney World Resort offers both wheelchair and Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) rentals. This may be something to consider for your holiday given your particular needs. You could even purchase an inexpensive canopy ahead of your trip to hook onto your ECV rental to shade you from the sun since that is a concern for individuals with Lupus. If you have more specific questions about DAS or ECV and wheelchair rentals, you can send an email to disability.services@disneyparks.com for further assistance.

Amber, I hope this information helps. Please stop by planDisney again if you think of anything else we can help with. We’re all ears and happy to help!

    Until next time,

    Alyssa
