Hello, Shirley!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney with a great planning question. Your magical vacation is just a few months away. It is never too early to start putting the finishing touches on your plans.
The World’s Most Magical Celebration will be in full swing when you arrive. Allowing you to explore the offerings of the
50th Anniversary Sips and Bites Guide. All 4 theme parks and select dining locations in Disney Springs and Disney Resorts Collection Hotels will offer tasty new menu items that were created especially for the celebration.
I am not sure if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel and have your transportation lined up from the airport to your hotel. Most Guests are using bus transportation like Mears Connect or a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to get to and from Orlando International. These services are not complimentary and will require you to book directly with them to make arrangements.
Once you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort, you do not need a vehicle. When I stay at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, I strictly rely on all forms of Disney Transportation that are offered. Depending on where you are staying and where you are going will dictate which method of transportation you will use. The most common form of transportation is the
Walt Disney World Bus Service. This complimentary service runs from all Disney Resort hotels to theme parks 45 minutes before park opening and runs continually up to 1 hour after park closing. Buses will also run to Disney Springs during operating hours and up to 1 hour after closing.
Transportation by boat along Disney Resort waterways is primarily offered to the Magic Kingdom from the resorts around Seven Seas Lagoon by water taxi. Watercraft service is also available to EPCOT from the surrounding hotels. Guests shopping at Disney Springs who will be staying at Disney’s Old Key West, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and French Quarter can utilize watercraft to get to and from their shopping excursions.
My favorite form of transportation is
Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation, or as we call it in my family, the highway to the sky! Guests staying at resorts in the Magic Kingdom area on the monorail loop can travel by monorail to the Magic Kingdom. You can also reach EPCOT by monorail as well. Both parks have their separate monorail loops with spectacular views while en route to your destination.
The newest form of transportation is
Disney’s Skyliner. Your gondola will whisk you away to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or EPCOT if you are a Guest of the resorts on the Skyliner loop. See the Walt Disney World Resort from a new vantage point, in an expertly themed gondola.
Any Guest visiting the Walt Disney World Resort can use any of these complementary forms of transportation. You can use multiple forms of transportation to reach your destination because getting there is half the fun!
I hope this gives you some ideas of how to navigate your way around the Walt Disney World Resort. If you have any more questions, please come back and visit us again.
See ya real soon,
Andrea
