Hi Sherry!
A warm welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Thank you for sending us your excellent question about Walt
Disney World Resort annual pass renewals.
Sherry, annual pass renewals, unlike first-time annual pass purchases, do “activate” immediately upon renewal. In other words, as soon as you renew your pass, it will be considered active and your annual pass year will commence.
In the past, I have allowed my renewal window to expire for the same reason you stated above. For my family, this was the option that worked best. However, because many Guests like to “lock in” the renewal discount, this is not an option for them. I suggest you “crunch” numbers to see what will offer the best value for your family.
Remember that even if you feel you are going to “lose” 4.5 months of
Walt Disney World Resort annual pass use, your two subsequent vacations may still make the renewal worth it. It all depends on the length of your subsequent vacations and how many Walt Disney World Resort theme parks you plan to visit. Just one visit a year can sometimes make a Walt Disney World Resort annual pass worth it!
If you have any additional questions, please visit the Disney Parks Moms Panel again. We are always here to help you plan your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
All EARS,
Priscila
