Hey there, Karen! Welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for sending your question our way! I am also an
Annual Passholder and though it can be tricky nowadays, I love just going with the flow and seeing where the wind in my sails takes me when visiting The Walt Disney World Resort! With the
Disney Park Pass Reservation System, it can be a little tough to approach our vacations that way, but it is still possible!
Karen, if you have a theme park reservation for
Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, you do have to scan into that park before park hopping to any others. If you are short on time or don't actually plan to visit the theme park, you can stop by, scan your pass into the park, then turn right around and leave. Though it is not the most convenient plan, it is the best way to keep your options open without ditching your reservation completely. If this is a little more trouble than you think it's worth, it may be better to cancel your Disney's Animal Kingdom reservation completely and just stick with
EPCOT that day.
I know this isn't the magical news you were hoping to hear but on the bright side.. Where there's a will, there's a way! You can still make your plan work if you're willing to go the extra mile over to Disney's Animal Kingdom regardless of the amount of time you plan to spend there.
I hope this helps answer your question today, Karen. Enjoy your vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Ashley
