Hi there, Danielle!
That’s a terrific plan to expand your
Southern California Residents 3-Day, Weekday Ticket to twelve months of
Magic Key holder benefits. You’ll have access to Key holder activities, dining and merchandise discounts, and more.
The standard way to
upgrade a currently-active theme park ticket to a Disneyland Resort Magic Key is to use the “Tickets and Passes” screen of the
Disneyland mobile app. At this time, however, the Disneyland app does not accept Disney Gift Cards for payment toward Magic Key passes. To upgrade your theme park ticket to a Magic Key using a Disney Gift Card, you will need to visit a main entrance ticket booth.
I upgraded a theme park ticket to my current Magic Key pass using a Disney Gift Card. So this is a familiar process for me. Here are some tips and points that I would like to share:
- Your current theme park ticket must not have expired. In the case of your promotional Southern California ticket, you must upgrade on or before the last day of use or by May 26, 2022, whichever is first.
- Each person upgrading to a Magic Key pass at the ticket booths will need to be present.
- Cast Members are encouraging Guests to use the Disneyland app rather than get in line at the ticket booths. If you are asked about the purpose of your visit as you get in the queue, make sure you indicate your intent to upgrade to a Magic Key using a gift card specifically.
- Adults upgrading to a Magic Key will need their government-issued photo ID.
- Be prepared to share your mailing address and birthdate as part of the process of purchasing a Magic Key.
- If you have more than one Disney Gift Card, make sure to visit the Disney Gift Card website to combine your cards onto a single card before you visit the ticket booths. A single Disney Gift Card can hold up to $1000.
- Your Magic Key Pass will have its expiration date set to 12 months after the first day of use of your current theme park ticket.
I’m excited for you to enjoy your new Magic Key pass, Danielle. You’ll experience a year’s worth of magic and memories. If you have any more questions about using your Magic Key pass, please stop by planDisney again.
