It's so nice to see you back at planDisney, Kristin!
Thanks for stopping by with another question. After all that planning (and waiting!), I bet you can hardly believe your next visit to Walt Disney World Resort is just around the corner. Before you know it, you'll be strolling down Main Street, U.S.A., snacking on a Mickey pretzel, and taking in all the excitement of
The World's Most Magical Celebration –– it's going to be amazing!
If you're planning to spend some time in EPCOT during your stay, you'll definitely want to add the park's newest adventure,
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, to your must-do list. Recently, I got to experience this ride with a few of my fellow Panelists and it
completely blew my mind. Believe me, if thrill rides are your jam (and you'll definitely be jamming!) you won't want to miss it! There are two ways to join the queue during your visit –– by joining the virtual queue for a Boarding Group assignment or by purchasing
Genie+ Individual Lightning Lane access. Both of these options can be accessed via the My Disney Experience mobile app, so be sure to check that out during your visit.
Speaking of the My Disney Experience app, while you won't be able to download the app directly to your Apple Watch, your watch is still going to be a great tool to use during your Walt Disney World vacation. That's because you'll be able to download a
Disney MagicMobile pass and use your watch just like a MagicBand throughout your stay. Here's what you'll need to do to download your new pass:
1. Be sure that you're running the latest version of the
My Disney Experience mobile app on your smartphone and sign in using your Disney Account credentials.
2. Tap the three lines in the bottom right corner and select "Disney MagicMobile" from the menu.
3. Select the Guests you'll be creating a pass for from your Friends & Family List and tap "Add to Apple Wallet".
And that's all there is to it! Once you've created your new pass, it
should automatically sync with your Apple Watch, but if that doesn't happen, you may need to open the Watch app on your phone and manually upload your pass. After you've done that, your Disney MagicMobile pass will be ready and waiting to use once you arrive.
Last year, I decided to start using my own Apple Watch instead of a MagicBand, and it's been easy and convenient for each trip since then. I love that not only can the Disney MagicMobile be used for theme park admission, but it also acts as my
Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card, shows my Annual Passholder entitlement, and can even be used to charge purchases during my stay. Just keep in mind that the big MagicBand feature your watch won't have is the ability to unlock your
Disney Resorts Collection hotel room. No worries, though –– you can unlock your room door right from the My Disney Experience app, so you'll never have to worry about being without a key!
Again, thanks for bringing another question to planDisney, Kristin. I'm wishing you plenty of pixie dust during your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort!
See Ya Real Soon,
Amy
