Hiya, Emily! Thanks for hopping over to planDisney!
It looks like your next trip to Walt Disney World is just around the corner. Cue the excited screaming and running around! Let’s jump in and get you the info you need for your upcoming visit.
You are correct that there has been a
temporary change to the theme park reservation rules for Annual Passholders, requiring them to have a theme park reservation at all times when visiting the Magic Kingdom as their first park of the day. The rule change is due to the anticipated demand for the new nighttime parade at the Magic Kingdom,
Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away.
I’m pleased to report, however, that the rules for Annual Passholder park hopping remain unchanged at this time. You’ll have no problem park hopping to the Magic Kingdom since you’re starting your day at Hollywood Studios. All you need to do is check in at your first park, and you’re free to park hop until you drop! The only issue would be if the Magic Kingdom reaches capacity, which is rare at non-holiday times, but always worth keeping in mind.
I’m counting down the days until my next Walt Disney World trip and the chance to see Disney Starlight. It looks stunning from the previews I’ve seen so far. You’ll have two chances to catch the parade each night (schedule subject to change), at 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM. You can find the most up-to-date schedule information on the
Hours and Events Calendar or the My Disney Experience mobile app.
Emily, I hope you have a blast on your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World, Hollywood Studios, and the Magic Kingdom. Don’t hesitate to pop right back if you have any more questions. Your planDisney pals are here to help!
Magical travels!
