I have an AP that's about to expire in January. However I'm not coming back to WDW until 2018. If I renewed my pass now would it still be good until 2018 or would I have to wait until the end of this year to renew it for this to work?

    Hi Ted,

When you renew your annual pass, the expiration date of your current pass is extended by a year. So if, for example, your pass expires on January 25, 2017, your renewal would go through January 25, 2018.Unless you are planning another trip in 2017 or your 2018 Walt Disney World vacation falls before your expiration date, you probably want to hold off on renewing at this point.

When you get ready to buy a new annual pass, the clock will start on it at the time of first use. So, to get the maximum benefit, you can think about planning two vacations within that 12 month window, say late January 2018 and early January 2019.

I hope that clarifies the renewal for you, Ted. Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Please let us know if you have any more questions as you make plans for your visit in 2018. We're happy to help!
