Greetings, Katy, and thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so glad you’re hEAR! It’s never too early to start planning your next getaway to the
Happiest Place on Earth, so let’s get started!
I’d be more than happy to help you with your
Stroller Rental question, so we can find the right fit for your son. I checked with a Cast Member, and was told that the single, jogging-style rental strollers offered at Disneyland Resort have a recommended capacity of 50 pounds or less. So, unfortunately, this option probably won’t work for your son. However, I checked with the Resort’s featured provider, ScooterBug, a private mobility rental company in Anaheim, and found the Freedom Push Adaptive Needs Stroller on their site. According to ScooterBug, this stroller should fit larger children and small adults with adaptive needs. I dug a little deeper and found out that this stroller should hold up to 200 pounds. I also checked the stroller’s dimensions, and unfortunately, it appears that this stroller exceeds the Resort's
31” wide by 52” long stroller guidelines issued last year. Since this is the only special-needs stroller offered by ScooterBug, I have a feeling this stroller will be allowed for Guests with needs like your son, though. If you’re considering renting this stroller, I recommend calling Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 to ensure it will be allowed into the Resort. If you get the go-ahead, ScooterBug can deliver your stroller to your
Disneyland Resort hotel for added convenience. Simply call (800) 726-8284 to pre-order your stroller.
Another option is to rent a
wheelchair or
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) from the Disneyland Resort. These rentals are available on a daily basis, and can be found near Stroller Rentals, located to the right of the
Disneyland Park Main Entrance and adjacent to the Kennel.
Last but not least, I suggest stopping by
Guest Relations upon arrival in Disneyland Park (at City Hall) or Disney California Adventure Park (at Chamber of Commerce). There, you can chat with a Cast Member to find ways to help make your son’s Disney days more manageable. The Resort ensures that all Guests, including those with
disabilities, enjoy the most magical vacation possible!
I hope this information helps, Katy! Please stop by with any additional questions… I’m all EARs!
