Hello, Allyson!
There are several really great resources for mapping your transportation while in Walt Disney World. Great question!
First, I like to use this
road map of WDW when explaining to Guests how far a resort is from a particular park or between two resorts. Guest Services would say to allow at least an hour to an hour and a half between a resort and a dining location, which is usually the longest you'd need (Although we have, on occasion, taken exactly 1 1/2 hours to get from a distant resort to a park gate; that's not the norm, though.) This map is also great for determining how to get from your resort to a restaurant at a different resort area, should you choose to do so. (In general, take a Resort Bus from your resort to the closest park, then hop onto another Resort Bus for your final destination.)
Next, take a look at your resort's webpage and select "Transportation" from the list on the left. Here's a link to the
Transportation page on Disney's Art of Animation Resort as an example. Use this to determine how to get from your resort to each park and Downtown Disney.
In addition, each park's page also has a Transportation option, which is very useful for understanding how to get from one park to another. Here's an example of
Magic Kingdom's Transportation page.
Depending on where your resort is located, however, you might need far less time to get to certain location. Send me another question including where you'll be staying and if you have any dining reservations at this time. I'd love to help ease your mind so that you can enjoy your vacation!
