Is there anywhere to get corn braids for my dd's hair like you can get on the Disney Cruise? Not just a single braid(like by the pool) Actual Corn Braids, like Bahama style ??? thanks

    Hi, Amy!

For corn rows, I have found that you can get your hair braided in most every port in the Caribbean and Bahamas. It may not cost as much as on the ships, but I have heard that they aren't quite as sensitive in the ports as the Disney Cast Members are who braid on the ship or at Castaway Cay. You can get complete corn rows or single braids on the ship or on the island, and there are varying costs according to how you want it braided and how much you want braided. Just remember to apply sunscreen to your scalp in between the rows since that part of your epidermis is not accustomed to the harsh rays of the sun!

If you're talking about trying to find a place to braid corn rows at home, I recommend talking to your local hairstylist and getting recommendations there. The Bahama-style braids are such an easy and carefree way to keep your hair for a while, but remember, braiding is harsh on your scalp and hair -- so make sure your child has a tough scalp and healthy hair.

I have a ton of hair, and it's never been hard for me to find people who want to braid my hair when I'm in a port in the Caribbean.  They usually approach me as soon as I've stepped off the ship or airplane! Yet, when you arrive in a port, you can ask around of the vendors who sell merchandise near the docks or at the local markets or restaurants. I hope this helps navigate you in the right direction.  If I didn't quite understand your question completely, feel free to write back. I'd love to help.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
