Hi moms! Is there anything you’d suggest to bring when traveling to Disney for a few days?

Hi there, Sabrina, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I’m so excited to hEAR that you’re starting to plan your dream getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth! When it comes to packing, I recommend looking at this helpful “When to Visit” page on the Disneyland Resort website. There, you’ll find average temperature ranges to help you decide what type of clothing to pack. No matter what time of year you plan on visiting, I recommend wearing layers – our weather here in Southern California tends to fluctuate throughout the day, so you may need a sweatshirt in the morning and evening, even on warmer days. If you’re worried about lugging extra clothes around all day, don’t fret! The Disneyland Resort offers Locker Rentals, so you can store extra clothes or snacks in a handy locker throughout your Disney days. Lockers can be found in each theme park, and on The Esplanade, which is the area between the theme parks.

If you happen to be traveling to the Disneyland Resort during the warmer summer months, I recommend packing swimsuits too, especially if you’re staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel. On warmer days, my family enjoys starting out at the theme parks, then heading back to our hotel for a midday pool break. Then, it’s back to the parks for an evening filled with fireworks, churros, and thrills!

Since you’re going to be doing a lot of walking, I highly recommend a comfortable pair of sneakers and socks, or comfortable sandals. The Disneyland Resort is very walkable, from the Disneyland Resort Hotels, to Downtown Disney District, to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. You’ll have no trouble getting your steps in!

Before your magical adventures begin, I also recommend downloading the Disneyland app, which is my favorite handy helper! This app is a great tool for checking attraction wait times, making dining reservations, finding Characters, and using Disney MaxPass and Disney PhotoPass. MaxPass allows you to make Disney FASTPASS selections from the convenience of your mobile device -- I truly believe it’s the best way to maximize your time in the parks!  Plus, it includes unlimited digital downloads of your PhotoPass images, which is the best way to preserve your magical memories.

I hope this information helps as you start making your packing list, Sabrina! Please stop by with any additional questions… I’m all EARs!

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 8, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
