Disney Springs for dinner or some shopping!
As a longtime Member, I appreciate that the DVC properties are always looking fresh and clean - it takes a lot to keep everything in tip-top shape! It was recently announced that Old Key West would begin a refurbishment in 2026, including updated soft goods (bedding, carpets, upholstery), as well as some more significant upgrades. The living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens are also scheduled to be replaced. This will be a big change for the resort, and I'm really excited to see the updated studios and villas!
Timothy, DVC has not announced firm dates for the renovations at this time. You know what they say about best-laid plans! As other resorts have undergone refurbishments, the work is done in sections so that there is still plenty of available lodging for Guests. I anticipate that even if the work has started by December, it wouldn't impact a stay there significantly. For the most up-to-date information on any closures, I recommend keeping an eye on the Old Key West site.
Keep in mind that if Old Key West is your Home Resort and you are booking now in your 11-month
Home Resort Priority Period, you can switch to a different DVC resort at the 7-month mark if you're concerned about renovations affecting your vacation. It's always fun to check another property off your DVC bucket list!
