Is there anyplace on the property where one can buy a Styrofoam cooler seeing that the refrigerators have been removed? Could bring a soft sided one in luggage but prefer a buy one for the room

Hi John! I haven't heard officially on the refrigerator replacement schedule but from what I've read online, that should be complete within the next few months.  Many of the resorts have already received the new refrigerators so there is a chance you may not need a cooler.  If your resort does not have a refrigerator, there are some available upon request but availability is limited.

In the past, I have seen the Styrofoam coolers at the Hess station across from Downtown Disney.  You can also use delivery services such as gardengrocer.com but there is a minimum purchase required for that.  However, if you will be purchasing water and snacks, that might be an option.

Personally, I would bring a collapsible cooler.  It's easier to pack and it's there for you immediately. If you go this route, I would also suggest you bring a strong plastic bag to line the cooler.  Honestly the collapsible coolers serve their purpose but they always tend to leak for me!  I find the extra liner does the trick.

I hope this helps and if luck goes your way, this will be a non-issue.  Enjoy your vacation!
