Has anyone watched the fireworks at Magic Kindom from the California Grill? Is it a good experience and would the restaurant be appropriate for an 8 year old?

    Hi Janine,

Yes, I have watched the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from the California Grill atop Disney's Contemporary Resort.  It is a magical experience.  You simply can't beat the view.  You can either view the fireworks from your table inside the restaurant or you could venture out to their magnificent outdoor viewing area.  If you conclude your meal before it is time for Wishes to begin you can leave the restaurant and return later that evening to view the fireworks from the outdoor viewing area.  Just have your receipt for dinner handy so that you can gain re-admission to the restaurant.

This signature dining experience is kid-friendly, assuming your eight-year-old is willing to wait patiently as the various parts of your meal are served.  (Dinner at the California Grill is not a rushed experience). There is certainly plenty to see as you dine.  Your son or daughter will likely be quite entertained by the activities you can view from this resort.   If you wish to see if there is something on the menu that will appeal to your child, check out the menus for this delightful restaurant.

If you decide you wish to dine at the California Grill, be sure to call (407) WDW-DINE to make advance dining reservations.  This is a very popular restaurant at Walt Disney World.

Best wishes for a magical vacation!
