Has anyone successfully fit a pack 'n play or travel crib in the bedroom of the new Fort Wilderness cabins. I can't tell from pictures if there would be room to open the door of the bedroom if one is set up.

    Hiya Dara,

Welcome to planDisney! I was just recently at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness to celebrate one of my favorite little ones’ birthday parties. Both of my children had an absolute blast during our visit to the Cabins, and I’m sure it won’t be long until we are back there so they can play on the playground and run through the trees.

As luck would have it, Dara, my one-year-old, needed a nap during the party, and we had to figure out how to set up a sleeping space for him (he normally sleeps in a crib). As you suspected, the bedroom is a tight squeeze when you add in a crib or portable Pack ‘n Play playard. We were able to fit a crib in the room (you can request one from Fort Wilderness when you check in) for nap time, since the rest of us didn’t need to be in the room. But with my entire family in there, it would have been a lot harder to maneuver. With a resort hotel crib, we were able to slide it in between the dresser and the foot of the bed (there was not a lot of space) since it wasn’t as wide, but with a standard-sized portable Pack ‘n Play playard, we figured that it would be a lot harder. Since you would likely need to place it near the door, you wouldn’t be able to open the door very easily, which would be my nightmare since my littles have two different bedtimes (and wake times). A mini playard may fit in that space, but again, that would be a tight squeeze. The best scenario would be to put the playard or crib in the main living space so there is enough space to move around if needed.

I hope this was helpful, Dara. Before I let you go, I mentioned that you can request a Pack ‘n Play or crib for your cabin (and all resort hotel rooms). Quantities are limited, so I suggest making the request with a Cast Member over the phone (if you have already made your reservation) and again when you arrive to check in. In my experience, I have always gotten a crib or Pack ‘n Play when I’ve requested one, but I always like to make sure to make the request early and often just to be on the safe side. As the mom of two under four, preparation is my favorite word! If you need anything else, please come back and see us.

    Happy Planning,
