Has anyone stayed in cabins in July? I love atmosphere but worried about mosquitos and rain in summer. Does it get muddy or paved roads? Husband coming in from Iraq so want some quiet but not uncomfortable so deciding between cabin and villas at hotel?

    Hi Kimberly,

Fort Wilderness Campground holds some of my most precious memories of Walt Disney World and it feels pretty much like my "home away from home".  I have never experienced anything "muddy" or uncomfortable there.  You will definitely benefit from the nice air conditioning you will have available to you in the cabins.  There are paved roads everywhere you would need to drive a car and when you have your typical afternoon thunderstorm/downpour, you may experience some quite large puddles for a short time but they will disappear within a few hours with the high humidity and heat drying things up very quickly!  Again, you may find the walking trails after one of these storms to be a bit wet, but not muddy.  This is not your typical campground by any means and I think your husband and yourself will enjoy this experience for some quality alone time after his time spent away from you while in Iraq.  As far as mosquitos go......they are not allowed in Walt Disney World!!!!!! Ha-Ha!  No, really, I don't think I have ever needed any kind of repellents at Fort Wilderness when we have camped there, it really seems quite odd I know and you may find an odd, stray one here and there but nothing I would worry about anyways.  I hope this helps in your decision making and that wherever you decide to stay that you will have a magical one.

    Best wishes,
