    Hello, can anyone please tell me do you have to be an American to open the magic Kingdom park with mickey mouse as we are going  in October and it would be a fabulous surprise for my family to do something like this Thankyou

    Hi Kay!

         Getting selected to be the first family and opening Magic Kingdom is truly a magical moment! This incredible magical moment is random and you do not have to be an American to be selected for this magical moment. Even though this special Pixie Dust moment is totally random, there are a few things that you can do to increase your chances of being selected. The first is to show up 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours early before the Magic Kingdom is scheduled to open on that particular day.  If there are no busses running that early in the morning, I would take a taxi to the Contemporary Resort and then walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary (5 to 10 minute walk). Secondly, talk to the Cast Members at the Magic+ Touch Point Portals and be excited for your day in the Magic Kingdom. Thirdly, have your family all wear the same brightly colored shirts (same color for everyone because it makes your family stand out) and if you have your family name on the shirts that is even better!   Nothing is guaranteed but it is definitely worth a try to see if this magical moment can happen for you and your family!
