Does anyone know if the sci if restaurant in HS is particularly dark or movies shown loud or scary. Really would like to try this restaurant this March but we will have a 9month old baby with us. Was worried if it is unsuitable for young children?

Hi Kerry-anne, welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. On our last vacation, I took my mother and 5-year-old son to the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant for lunch. I am a huge sci-fi and horror fan, so this dining experience has easily made it on my favorites list. My son thought it was so cool because the whole restaurant is set up like a drive-in theater. He loved getting to eat his meal in a car and at the end of the meal our server gave him a special drivers license. Although the theming is the major draw of this restaurant, the food is out of this world amazing as well.

Because the whole arrangement of the dining experience is set around a drive-in theater, it is quite dark. There are many light sources, and Disney puts guest safety at high importance, so while it is darker than your typical restaurant, it is not so dark that there should be any concern. The movie clips that are projected onto the big screen are vintage and not particularly scary. In fact, we laughed at almost all of the clips just because they were so campy and ridiculously un-scary. The volume level at which the clips are played is also kept at a moderate level so that you can hear and speak to your server and other members of your group. I would not describe this restaurant as scary or frightening, and I think that you should have no problem bringing the baby. I highly suggest making reservations at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant when you go to Hollywood Studios in March. You will not be disappointed.

Have a magical Walt Disney World vacation!
