Hi Kimberly!
Congratulations on your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation! First, take a deep breath, your kiddos will have PLENTY of safe and delicious options while on vacation. While many parents of children with peanut allergies have claimed that the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars are fine for their children, it is important to note that they ARE produced in a plant that produces nut and wheat products. As your children have severe reactions, I would rule out those particular treats.
I would email
specialdiets@disneyworld.com and let them know of your kids' particular needs. You will be contacted by the special diets department, which will completely educate you about how to ensure their safe dining. You can also make your requests known online when you make your Advanced Dining Reservations. When in doubt, ask to speak with a chef! They will be happy to visit with you at your table and go over your exact needs. However, the safest bet is to contact the folks at the email address above to arrange everything beforehand.
I have also heard that Cast Members at Animal Kingdom may have peanut oil on their hands, due to feeding nuts to the birds. You will be alerted to all of this when you contact the
Special Diets department. Thousands of guests with severe peanut allergies visit WDW every year and with a little preparation, you will have a fabulous vacation!
Much pixie dust,
Jackie S.
