Hi Tomas,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Your Walt Disney World Vacation is right around the corner, and I am so excited for you and your family!
From one parent to another, I am so glad you are thinking about the best way to give your teenager spending money. On our Disney vacation earlier this year, my tween accidentally left her backpack – with a Disney gift card and some cash inside – in a restroom in one of the theme parks. After many tears (some hers, some mine), we got well-acquainted with
Lost & Found, but our tale did not have a happy ending as the backpack never turned up. I totally get trying to make the spending money process as easy as possible on all of you.
Tomas, at this time, Disney Gift Cards cannot be linked to
MagicBands. If you are staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you do have the option of linking your daughter’s MagicBand to a credit card and then, when she makes her purchase, visiting the hotel’s front desk and applying the gift card to the credit card tab. I would also advise you to double check about this policy when you check in, as the Cast Members at your resort may have some other suggestions.
Another option is to give her something wearable where she can safely keep the gift card. There are some really cute
Disney-themed hip packs, or she could go with a lanyard pouch.
Happy countdown to Disney, Tomas! If you think of any last-minute planning questions, please come back and see us.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
