"Welcome home," James and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
James, while I love the
Disney bus system,
monorail service and
the Disney Skyliner, there is just something extra special about
water transportation. Traveling by boat evokes a relaxed mood perfect for vacation and nods to some favorite Disney characters like Ariel, Moana and Captain Hook who were more at home in the water than on land.
Unfortunately water transportation is not currently available to or from
Disney Springs and to your question, we have not yet been given a reopening date. I do encourage you to keep a close watch on the
Disney Parks Blog as announcements tend to wash up on those shores first.
Now, my family and I stayed at
Disney's Old Key West Resort just this past August and certainly missed the option to hop aboard a water taxi to Disney Springs, so I appreciate your conundrum. Since the water transportation option is a "must," this may be the perfect time to try a Disney Vacation Club Resort that you haven't yet experienced or maybe an old favorite that originally wasn't considered for this trip. Part of the reason I love being a
Disney Vacation Club Member is the flexibility to use my Vacation Points to book rooms not only at my "home" resort, but at all of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts.
To kick start your imagination, here are a few
Disney Vacation Club Resorts that offer water transportation to one of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks:
- to and from Magic Kingdom Park:
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows
- to and from Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT:
BoardWalk Villas
Beach Club Villas
James, I hope this helps and I wish you well as you're planning your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Please come on back and see us here at planDisney with any additional questions you might have.
