J, mahalo for coming to planDisney with your question, welcome! One of my favorite parts of our family visits to the
Walt Disney World Resort is taking advantage of non-park days at the picturesque pools found throughout the
Disney Resort Collection hotels or visiting
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and
Disney’s Blizzard Beach. My wife and I enjoy recharging by soaking up the sun on the beach of Stormalong Bay at
Disney's Beach Club Resort with a tasty treat from
Hurricane Hanna's Grill, but we truly can relax knowing that our kids are safe swimming with the very well-trained Cast Member Lifeguards and wearing their complimentary life vests.
The life jackets located throughout the Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools and water parks are TRC Recreation Super Soft United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved safety vests. Typically, the vests are available in two or three different sizes, but neither I nor the Cast Member I spoke to could confirm which exact sizes are available. To better assist you with your planning, I did a quick internet search which leads me to believe that a Child XS or S would be suitable for a child 30-50 lbs. and a Youth M would fit a child 50-90 lbs. If you are unsure if these potential options would be suitable for your family, you are more than welcome to bring your own life jacket or floating device. On our most recent stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we brought our own Puddle Jumper for our youngest son since that is what he is used to swimming in at home.
I hope this information helps you with your planning, J. If you have any additional questions, please swim on back to planDisney!
Surfs up,
Brent
