Hi, Has anyone ever stayed at Fort Wilderness cabins in August. Is it really buggy at that time? Thanks!

    Hi Desiree,

It's funny, when I was a kid staying at Fort Wilderness Campground, I don't ever recall having to spray ourselves with repellant before heading out in the wilderness there, but last summer I realized that this has changed.  I was over at the campground visiting one of the other Moms Panelists who happened to be vacationing at the same time as us (she was renting one of the cabins) and my daughter and I spent the day having fun with them.  I soon realized that we were getting eaten alive by deer flies (biggest flies I have ever seen....like a horsefly, but bigger and they sting pretty bad).  My advice based on my recent experience is to get the bug repellant and there is one specifically tailored to repel those nasty deer flies.  I am not sure this is a normal occurrence each year or if it was just a fluke last summer, but better to be prepared.  I Hope you have a bug free and magical stay!

    Best wishes,
    Brigitta
