    Has anyone ever lost a behind the ear hearing aid on a WDW ride? We'll avoid wet rides but my child will want to ride coasters and I'm afraid of losing my aids off my head if I allow this. I've looked at Guests with Disabilities page but no answers there.

    I'm so happy that you came to the DIsney Parks Moms Panel with your question, Jennifer!  I have years and years of experience with this, as I have two children who wear hearing aids.  While we've never lost one, I recognize the challenges of keeping tabs on them all the time.  

    First off,  I would encourage you to go on the water rides!  Here's what we do...  The kids keep their aids on until right before we reach the boarding area of an attraction.  At that point, they give their aids to us.  We always carry plenty of ziploc baggies to put the aids inside.  Then we secure them in our backpack or purse until the ride has ended.  Our kids would rather experience the attractions than skip them.   At the pool, we are always afraid to leave the hearing aids unattended.  Here's a great tip for that...  Most of the resort gift shops sell a hard plastic waterproof box with a string to wear around your neck.  The hearing aids fit perfectly inside.  The aids are protected from getting smashed, as well as from getting wet.  We always write "hearing aids inside" in black Sharpie with our phone number listed.  This way if they do get away from us at the pool, people have a way to contact us.  At times, we also bring that waterproof box in the parks as well.   As far as the roller coasters, if the earmolds are secure you should be fine.  Our own kids always wear them on the coasters and it has never been an issue.
