Has anyone brought a small action camera hand grip (7 in, non-extendable, with wrist strap) into Disney World? I know selfie sticks are banned, but wondering if fixed grips like this are allowed by security. Any recent experiences?

    Hi Narendra,

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for bringing us your question! It sounds like you have an exciting trip coming up, and with so much to see and do at Walt Disney World Resort, it only makes sense that you want to capture every moment. Speaking of capturing memories, have you heard about Disney PhotoPass Service and Memory Maker? With PhotoPass, Disney photographers stationed throughout the parks will take high-quality photos of your family, from iconic spots like Cinderella Castle to character meet-and-greets. Memory Maker allows you to download all those photos and attraction shots in one package, so you can focus on enjoying your day without worrying about draining your phone battery or missing that perfect shot. I highly recommend it for any visit!

You are absolutely correct that selfie sticks, tripods, and any devices that extend are not allowed inside Walt Disney World Resort. However, a small, non-extendable handheld grip for a camera or action cam (like the one you described) is generally permitted. Guests often bring similar grips to the parks without issue. That said, all bags and personal items go through a security screening, and final approval is always at the discretion of the security team. I’d recommend keeping your grip compact and ready for easy inspection when entering the parks.

Since you’re looking to take great photos and videos, here are a few favorite spots to capture amazing memories:

    • Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where the palm trees and neon signs make for classic park photos.
    • The Disney BoardWalk at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn at sunset, when the lights reflect on Crescent Lake.
    • Asia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, near the prayer flags and stone shrines, for incredible backgrounds.
    • The streets of Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios, where the weathered walls and props make every shot feel cinematic.

Narendra, I hope this helps you feel confident about bringing your camera grip and gives you some inspiration for where to snap those memorable pictures. Please stop by again if you have more questions as you prepare for your vacation. We’d be happy to help you make it an unforgettable trip.

    See you real soon,
    Brent
