You answered a ? about e-tickets for the airlines. Could you elaborate more on this for me? What exactly am I using for my eticket? I'm a very paranoid kinda mom and feel lost not being fully aware of this process even if i'm not leaving til Dec. TY :)

    Hello Audrey!

I can tell you about my experience with (mostly) Southwest and Delta.  If you are traveling another airline, you may want to check their policies on their website to see if it differs.

Prior to your flight, you should be able to go to your airlines website and perform an online check-in and print your boarding pass.  The boarding pass is also known as an e-ticket and contains a bar code that will identify you when you go to the airport.

Once you arrive at the airport, you will bring this e-ticket and your identification with you when you check in your luggage.  Once your luggage is checked in, you will then need to proceed through the security check (be prepared to take off your shoes!) and you'll need to show the agent your e-ticket and identification again.  And finally, you'll need this e-ticket when you are actually boarding the plane.

Note: if you do not have access to a printer, or if you forget your e-ticket, do not worry - you can print/reprint at the airport if needed.  Also, if flying Southwest, you can do online check in 24 hours in advance.  It is highly recommended that you check in as close to this 24 hour mark as possible so that you have a good position in line to get the best available seats.  (Southwest has an open seating policy and online checking will assign you a position number on when you can board the plane.)

Clear as mud, huh?  Actually I do hope this helps.  If you still have questions, feel free to write me back and let me know what airline you are flying.  I'd be happy to help you research further.  Diane  :)
