Happy Halloween, Richard! Don’t you feel like going into planning overload for costumes when
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party comes around? I plan months in advance and brainstorm all year long! The answer is yes, adults can absolutely wear costumes to the party. I donned a Sanderson sister “Disneybound” one night and my Darla from “Finding Nemo” outfit the next, complete with braces, ponytails and prop Nemo! There are
some costume restrictions, as you read, but hopefully I can clarify them for you.
You shouldn’t enter Magic Kingdom in costume before 4pm, since that is when the party admission begins. The official fun starts at 7pm. You can’t wear masks (making face paint a very fun alternative!), wear long capes or clothing that reaches the ground (it’s a trip hazard), no layered costumes (you may be subject to additional screening or be asked to change), body-surrounding costumes like the UP House, or weapons that could be mistaken for real. You can, however, wear wings, toys swords, tutus, plastic light sabers, headwear, and more. I saw a beautiful cosplay that looked like Briar Rose stepping out of the film and a Giselle cosplay with incredible wigs. But don’t stress out: I saw plenty of people battling the Florida heat in Mickey Pumpkin shirts and light up necklaces. It be hot in October!
Make a game plan for the evening, deciding which characters you would like to see, or which rides you’d like to experience, and make sure you don’t miss the
Boo to You! Parade (2 showings per night) as well as the stage show. It’s bound to be a FRIGHTFULLY good time! ~ Lindsey P.
