Hi there, Brenda!
Welcome back to planDisney! It's always a treat to help a fellow Passholder plan their next visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth. I'm so glad you stopped by!
We have a lot in common, Brenda. Not only are we both Annual Passholders, but we are married to part-time Mouseketeers who are not. So, I'm happy to help you with the ins and outs of using multiple ticket types within a single travel party. Your vacation is less than a month away, so let's get to it!
As long as you and your husband are
linked through your Family & Friends List, you should have no problem purchasing and securing
Lightning Lanes together for your upcoming visit. To make your purchases in the My Disney Experience app, you will simply select 'Purchase' under the 'Lightning Lane' heading. From there, you'll be able to select the date, theme park, and Lightning Lane type that you would like to purchase. You'll then be sent to a screen that will show you a list of members from your Family & Friends who are eligible to be added to the purchase. If you don't see your husband here, you'll want to verify that you two are linked and sharing plans and that his theme park ticket is linked to his My Disney Experience account.
A few reminders:
- Because his ticket is date-based he will not need to make a theme park reservation in advance, but your Annual Pass does require one — with the exception of good-to-go days. You'll want to make yours before you make your purchases as available reservations might determine the theme park where you purchase Lightning Lanes.
- If you will be staying at a Disney Resort hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, or Shades of Green Resort, then you'll be able to purchase your Lightning Lanes 7 days before check-in for the entire length of your stay regardless of the ticket type. If you're visiting from beyond the reef (somewhere aside from those named above), then you'll be able to secure your Lightning Lanes 3 days before your visit. While your husband's date-based ticket will enable him to make purchases for both days 3 days in advance of his first day in the theme parks, as an Annual Passholder yours will need to be purchased individually for each date one day at a time.
- If your husband's theme park ticket includes the Park Hopper option, once you've redeemed your first Lightning Lane in the park for which you purchased the pass you'll be free to make your next selection and modify those you already have for another theme park if desired.
- If one of the attractions you have been dreaming of is not initially available, I encourage you to check back periodically as people modify their plans. I've been able to grab a Slinky Dog Dash and Tiana's Bayou Adventure while already in the theme park!
Don't forget that as an Annual Passholder, you'll have access to
exclusive perks during your visit. Between the discounts on food and merchandise, my husband is actually starting to believe that my Passholder status is saving us money. Magic math at its finest!
I hope this clears things up, Brenda! If you're in need of any further clarification about the process, you're welcome to
stop back by. I'm always happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
