Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Alice!
You are as welcome as can be here at planDisney! How exciting that you are thinking of adding some extra sparkle and pixie dust to your wrist with new Magic Bands+ for yourself and your family. Not only are there many new styles, like the
Disney Munchlings for Disney snack lovers, but the additional Disney magic that happens when you are near specific locations sure adds a whole new world to your Disney theme park experience. Your Magic Band+ will give you access to your Resort room, can be used to charge purchases to your room, be your entry into the theme parks and Disney Genie+ attractions, and even light up and sparkle during Nighttime Spectaculars!
Alice, if you are logged into your
My Disney Experience account and have an existing Disney Resort reservation, there is a pre-arrival discount to select Magic Bands+ which is automatically applied when purchasing these through your My Disney Experience account. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort hotel and are trying to purchase your Magic Band+, make sure you are logged into your My Disney Experience account and it is the same one that has your Annual Pass linked to it. The
Annual Pass Magic Band+ discount is currently the same as the pre-arrival discount (though please note this is subject to change) and should be automatically applied. I tried checking with shopDisney to see if it worked there, and it did not on my account, as I am also a
DVC Member and an
Annual Passholder. The other option is to purchase your Magic Band+ upon your arrival to Walt Disney World in one of the gift shops. Here you can get a percentage discount on select shopping locations and would be able to get a discount on purchasing your Magic Band+ there. I will tell you that currently,
the discount through My Disney Experience is greater, so I recommend getting it there before you arrive and having it shipped to your home.
One more tip for you, Alice. I recommend always telling the Cast Members you are both an Annual Pasholder and a Disney Vacation Club Member when you visit merchandise locations so, if applicable, they can apply whichever discount is greater. Just remember you have to show proof of Membership and sometimes a government-issued ID. But, when I was there in June, it was Annual Passholder appreciation month and the merchandise discounts were greater than the Disney Vacation Club discounts. It always helps to have a little extra pixie dust in your wallet, don't you think, Alice?
I hope this helps you. If you have any further Disney planning questions, stop back and see me here. I'll be so happy to help you.
See ya real soon!
