    Are the annual passes for WDW just for the calendar year you buy them in or good for a year from the date of purchase?

    Hi Kristyln,

    Thanks so much for asking about Walt Disney World annual passes. I'm a loyal annual passholder and love the passholder benefits, including the discounts. Who doesn't love getting a deal on Disney dining, shopping special events and more?

    Walt Disney World annual passes can be purchased in advance, but the clock on your year doesn't start until the first day you tap your MagicBand to enter one of the four theme parks. So if you want to buy ahead of your trip, no problem. You will still have 365 days of Walt Disney World magic waiting for you from the first day of your vacation.

    That means if you use your pass to enter a theme park for the first time on July 1, 2020, for example, it will remain active until July 1, 2021, regardless of when you purchased it.

    Besides discounts, annual passes also give you free parking at the theme parks and access to special merchandise giveaways and purchases. I especially like my collection of free passholder magnets, frequently available Epcot.
