Does a annual pass start when you purchase the pass or when you make your first visit on the pass?

    Hey there, Chris!

A warm welcome to planDisney. I am thrilled to answer your great question about Walt Disney World Resort annual passes and I hope this means we are also welcoming you to the annual passholder family!

Your Walt Disney World Resort annual pass year begins the moment you activate it by entering a Walt Disney World Resort theme park with your new annual pass.

If you purchased your Walt Disney World Resort annual pass online and linked it to your My Disney Experience account, you may see an expiration date that reflects a date one year from the date you purchased your annual pass. Don’t worry about this, Chris. This expiration date reflects when your annual pass exchange certificate expires — not your annual pass itself. You have one year to exchange your annual pass certificate for an activated annual pass. Your expiration date will update once you enter a theme park!

I hope this helps, Chris. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to visit planDisney again. We love helping Guests plan practically perfect Walt Disney World Resort vacations!

Wishing you a Magical Passholder Year,
