If my annual pass expires on 9/6 and I renew it a few days before expiration, will it start the day it is renewed, on 9/7, or when I visit Disney my next trip in Feb, 5 months after I renew it? Thanks.

    Hi Lisa,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm glad you enjoyed your first year as a Walt Disney World passholder and are ready to extend your benefits for another year.

We've been passholders for more than 20 years and love unlimited admission to the theme parks, plus the passholder benefits and discounts. I still get a kick out of putting a new passholder magnet on my car and ordering my new passholder MagicBand each year.

When you renew your annual pass, you get a discount off the price of a new pass. I renewed my Florida Resident pass and my husband's recently, and I was able to take advantage of a 15 percent discount. (Discounts are subject to change without notice and may vary by pass).

The renewal extends your pass one year from the original activation date. So your renewal would extend your pass until September 6, 2021.

For my family, the renewal discount makes sense because we live nearby and can visit often. For guests like you who can visit less frequently, renewal may or may not save you money. You may need to do a little math to see which is cheaper for you, renewal or a new pass in early 2021.

Annual passes can be renewed from 60 days before expiration until 30 days after the expiration date. When you are within that 90-day window, you can go into your My Disney Experience account and click on Renew My Passes in the Tickets and Passes section to see exactly what your renewal cost would be. That will help you decide.

If you have specific questions about your account, you can speak to a Cast Member at the special passholder number, (407) 560-7277.

I hope that helps, Lisa. Please check back with us if you need more details or if you have other questions about planning your next Walt Disney World vacation. Enjoy!
