I have an annual pass for Disneyland. It expires August 2, 2025. I have not used it the entire time. I am planning on going in July. But my question is, will it still expire August 2 or does the expiration go 1 year from date of first use?

Hello, Reanna, and welcome to planDisney! Golly, it looks like you’re about to unlock a whole year of magic at the Disneyland Resort! As a Magic Key annual passholder, I can tell you there’s something truly special about knowing your next visit is always just around the corner.

Reanna, you will be activating your Magic Key annual pass just in time! According to the Magic Key Terms and Conditions, a pass will expire if it isn't activated within one year from the purchase date. It activates once you use it to enter a theme park or use the parking benefit for a fully paid first entry into a pay-on-entry lot. If you have not done either of these, you should be good to go as long as you activate your pass before that one-year mark. It will expire one year from the activation date.

Start by making a theme park reservation on the Disneyland website or the mobile app. On the day of your first visit, bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Be prepared to have your photo taken at the entrance gate – it will be linked to your pass.

Here are some tips, from one passholder to another:

    • Be mindful of your park reservations. If you do not enter a theme park on a day you have a reservation for, you will receive a no-show. After three instances in a 90-day period, you will be unable to make new park reservations or modify existing park reservations for 30 days. Make sure to cancel a theme park reservation by 11:59 p.m. the night before if you don't think you'll be able to make it to the parks.
    • With a Magic Key annual pass, you can generally park hop after 11 a.m. If you are arriving at the Disneyland Resort after 11 a.m., you can enter either park (subject to availability).
    • Throughout the year, there may be exclusive opportunities for Magic Key annual passholders. You can also get discounts throughout the park on food and merchandise.
    • Follow the Disneyland Magic Key account on Instagram and follow the Disney Parks Blog to stay in the know about news, seasonal highlights, and more. Check out the complete guide to the 70th Anniversary Celebration to get a preview of the fun you'll have during your upcoming visit.
Reanna, I wish you an amazing year of Disneyland Resort visits with your Magic Key annual pass. If you have any other questions, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney!
