At D23 they announced Pixar Pier coming to California Adventure. Are they closing rides to switch over and if so when?

    Hi Ross!

Yes, D23 was indeed enlightening this year with so many amazing announcements for both west and east coast parks. In fact for many of us our heads are still spinning as we try to grasp all the changes and new additions that will be coming around the world for Disney park fans.

The Disney Parks Blog has only given us a short description of what is going to take place about the change-over of Paradise Pier to the new Pixar Pier. They like to tease us a bit with the information and now we will have to wait and see what more comes down in the next few months.

We know that the area is renamed and will be redefined with the Pixar characters. Some of the attractions will likely remain but possibly be redesigned and renamed. We also know that the return of the Pixar Parade and a new fireworks show will highlight this area. Word on this whole project has not been announced for timing but with an opening in 2018 we know that things will have to happen soon.

I wish I had more information but we are in the dark just as much as you until Disney chooses to release more about this project.
