    The 40th anniversary of Walt Disney World is this year, October 1st!!! Will Disney be planning anything special throughout the year, the specific day, or nothing at all? I love the mom's panel and read it everyday! Thank you!!!

    You are a true Disney fan!  Like you, I have been keeping my eyes open for announcements of a celebration for the 40th anniversary.  I was not there on opening, but did travel there just a couple of months later.  

    There have been some 40th anniversary -related announcements made, but I have not seen any special events or entertainment announced for that weekend.  Keep your eyes on the Disney Parks Blog as they often have breaking news about what is coming up.  Check out this link, which is a recent Disney Parks Blog entry that is full of fun and nostalgia about the 1971 opening.  Special anniversary merchandise has been announced, too.

    Generally, plans and calendars are announced a minimum of six months in advance...which would be April first.  So if there is to be some announcements, I would hope we see them soon!
