Hello, Marie, and welcome to planDisney! You've come to the right place for advice on plant-based eats at the Disneyland Resort. I visit the parks often and have been vegan for more than ten years. You've got a friend in me to help with this!
Let’s start with the
70th Anniversary Foodie Guide. While it features quite a few vegetarian options, most items don't appear to be plant-based without modifications. One exception may be the Cotton Candy Mango Chile in California Adventure. I recommend asking the Cast Member at the vending cart if there is an ingredient list available to review before purchasing it, just to make sure it is vegan-friendly. A few of the drinks seem promising, too, including the Fun Punch at Refreshment Corner, the Little Lagoon from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, and the Miss Daisy at Café Daisy (minus the gummy ring garnish). The Pink Dragon Fruit Mimosa, which is served in a Disneyland 70th Celebration Acrylic Flute and is alcoholic, may be another option, but I would ask if there are more details about the wine and syrups before purchasing it.
Marie, I highly recommend the
World of Color Dessert Party. You can request a vegan platter when booking your reservation. The spread included chocolate, chia pudding, a cherry crumble, and more. It was delicious, and we had a wonderful, seated view of
World of Color Happiness!, which is a magical part of the 70th Anniversary Celebration.
There are plenty of exciting vegan-friendly eats throughout the Resort. Menus can change, so during your visit, keep an eye out for the green leaf icon on printed menus or look for the "Plant-Based" section on menus in the Disneyland mobile app. Here are some newer options that I've enjoyed:
- Pym Test Kitchn: Neutron Nachos
- Paradise Garden Grill: Carne Asada Wet Burrito
- Harbour Galley: Corn Soup in a Bread Bowl
- Red Rose Tavern: Veggie Fantasyland Faire Fold
- The Tropical Hideaway: Matcha Float (omit white chocolate drizzle)
And Marie, I went to
Blue Bayou for the first time a few months ago, and loved the Pistachio Lemon Basil Pasta paired with a Mint Julep. The star of the meal, however, was the vegan Crème Brûlée Tart. Speaking of dessert, it's always fun to have a special treat while in the park – Carnation Cafe and Lamplight Lounge both offer a vegan brownie with ice cream. It's the ultimate indulgence.
And when you are hungry between attractions and shows, keep in mind that the Disneyland popcorn is vegan-friendly, even the fresh caramel corn on Buena Vista Street! The iconic Mickey-shaped pretzel with mustard is also a great option.
Remember, search for the leaf icon or check the menus in the app. When in doubt, ask if you can speak with a chef or a special-diet trained Cast Member, or if there is an ingredient list available. You should have no trouble finding excellent plant-based options!
If you have any other questions, Marie, feel free to reach out. You can even
send me a question directly if you have more questions about eating plant-based at Disney Parks or Disney Cruises.
As Chef Remy said, "If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff." Luckily, there’s no shortage of excellent options at the Disneyland Resort!
Your pal,
Kriss
