Hi Anna! Our kids have a huge age gap as well! In July they will be 13 1/2 and 3. My partner is worried that we will have to split up too much in order to please all, which would defeat the whole "family vacation" concept. Please give us some poin

Hi, Desiree!  The best place in the world to be on vacation with kids who are spread so far apart in age is Walt Disney World.  We've been to other theme parks where I literally spent half the day walking around with my younger children while my oldest daughter and my husband rode all kinds of rides and enjoyed all sorts of activities the little ones couldn't.  That never happens at Walt Disney World.

One plan of attack that has worked for us in the past is to split up for only part of the day, but we don't even do that anymore.  We used to hit the Magic Kingdom early, and my oldest daughter and husband would run off to do the mountains, while I took the little ones to Fantasyland.  We would ride Dumbo, the carousel, and then head over to ride Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride.  Then we would meet back up and do everything else together.  With the advent of Fast Pass, we typically spend the whole day together, but when it's time for the Fast Pass to ride one of the big kid rides, my oldest and husband run off to do that one ride, I do a ride with the little kids, and then we're all back together.

There are also things that help pass the time while the big kid is riding a ride.  There is a children's play area just outside of Splash Mountain that your three year old would love while the 13 year old is on the mountain.

But really, there is way more to do together at Walt Disney World than there are things that would cause you to be apart for the whole vacation.  That's the best part!

And don't forget child swap!  You all stay together that way!
