Hey, Jessica! Thanks so much for popping in to planDisney with your question. I was excited to read your question because
Animation Academy is one of my favorite attractions, yet not many people know about it!
Good news, I don’t see any closures listed for
Animation Academy at this time. No reservations are required for the classes, which occur every 30 minutes. You can stop by The Animation Building, and right outside the attraction, you’ll see the daily schedule in case you’d like to return to draw a specific character. I recommend arriving approximately 15 minutes prior to the class to get in line, as space is limited, and some classes fill up quickly.
My family has some very entertaining sketches of Olaf and Goofy from over the years – it’s fun to see how our drawing skills have evolved over time! I do not consider myself a very artistic person; I was so surprised that through the step-by-step instructions from the talented artist, he made an artist even out of me!
The sketch makes a perfect (complimentary) souvenir to take home!
While you’re in The Animation Building, spend a few minutes to relax in the main lobby with scenes and melodies from classic Disney movies surrounding you. If you have a little extra time, stop in for
Turtle Talk with Crush – he is very entertaining and “so totally rocks!”
My panel sister
Carrie and I love talking about all the wonders of The Animation Building. Either on a hot day when you need to cool off, or on a cool day when you want to warm up, making a stop here for the relaxing, slow-paced activities is a welcome break.
Happy sketching,
Kamini
