Hi Kelly!
Rafiki's Planet Watch is a hidden gem! To begin, the Wildlife Express Train is the only way to get to and from Rafiki's Planet Watch. Once there, it is come and go. My daughter 1st became intrigued with the care of keeping of animals when we visited SeaBase at Epcot. The next day, we visited Rafiki's Planet Watch and it was life changing for her. At that point, animals became a passion. She learned so much about them and decided then and there that she was going to be a veterinarian. While I realize not every child (or adult) will have the same epiphany while visiting Rafiki's Planet Watch, there are quite a few things to do if your schedule will permit.
Within Conservation Station, you will have the opportunity to visit with some of your favorite Disney Characters, see presentations featuring Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park wildlife, learn about the feeding of the animals at the theme park, and see a science center where scientists are studying animals from around the world. There is also a working veterinary treatment room where you may see hands-on care of the park's animals.
Outside you will find Affection Section, an animal petting zoo and Habitat Habitat! where the stars of the trail are cotton-top tamarin monkeys.
Throughout the entire area are friendly and knowledgeable experts available to answer questions and educate Guests about the preservation and conservation of animals.
My 1st visit to Rafiki's Animal Watch was with my husband before we had kids. We enjoyed Song of the Rainforest (Grandma Willow takes you on a 3D audio journey through a rainforest) and walked around for a few minutes. We then headed back to Harambe. Since having kids, there have been times we have spent as long as 3 hours there. It's absolutely up to you and those traveling with you. Enjoy every educational and magical moment!
